Job Description

For the Corporate Tax  department in our company State Street Bank International GmbH in Munich we are looking for a Senior Tax Manager (m/f/d) with immediate effect – Job ID R-595442.

The Senior Tax Manager will be an integral member of the dynamic Corporate Tax Department, supporting State Street Corporation’s international Corporate Tax team. The successful candidate will report to State Street’s Head of Continental European Tax and will play a critical role in all Corporate Tax and Tax Accounting matters of State Street’s continental European tax function. The role’s principal responsibility will be to ensure full compliance with local tax return and global tax reporting requirements. The role will also serve an important advisory function for tax department and business initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Leading the Corporate Tax compliance processes by  supporting preparation by outside advisors of State Street’s tax returns in Germany, Austria and Netherlands and reviewing tax returns for these and other continental European jurisdictions
  • Researching and analyzing corporate tax issues that arise in connection with tax planning initiatives and business ventures
  • Providing tax accounting guidance for tax planning initiatives and business transactions
  • Providing execution support for tax planning initiatives, including preparing step plans, monitoring project status, and resolving issues
  • Supporting tax audits by building relationships with tax authorities and responding to their inquiries
  • Leading tax accounting, forecasting and reporting for for current and deferred taxes
  • Leading the development & maintenance of the Tax Control Framework, especially with respect to tax compliance guidelines & procedures
  • Leading functional analysis and documentation in the context of VAT matters
  • Working closely with State Street’s global Transfer Pricing Team and external advisors on analysis and documentation to meet local Transfer Pricing requirements

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Completed university degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, Law and/or Business Administration; a German Tax Advisor certification (Steuerberaterexamen) is beneficial but not mandatory
  • Ideally about 8 or more years of Corporate Tax and Tax Accounting experience with a public accounting firm or multinational company, with focus on Financial Services at best
  • Experience in leading Corporate Tax projects in an international environment
  • Expertise with ASC 740 accounting for income taxes
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Strong analytical and spreadsheet (Excel) skills with attention to detail
  • Solid  communication, interpersonal and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize
