Job Description

For the Procurement  department in our company State Street Bank International GmbH in Munich we are looking for a Procurement Manager (m/f) – Job ID R-571732.

The Procurement Manager will lead Procurement Services for the State Street International Bank (SSBI) and a Regional Spend Category (grouping of similar goods or services with common supply and demand drivers and suppliers), with a goal to optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). They will work with the EMEA Head of Procurement to help drive transformation of the Procurement organization, to enable smart, risk based quality sourcing approaches, preferred vendor programs and the roll out of P2P and shared services with a high focus on spend management.  

The Procurement Manager will be expected to partner with the other regional category managers to execute against regional strategies for SSBI and its branches. The role is expected to provide internal relationship management, risk based quality sourcing approaches, drive preferred vendor programs, and as applicable contract negotiations.

Major Responsibilities

  • Providing internal relationship management and risk based quality sourcing approaches, driving preferred vendor programs, and negotiating contracts as applicable
  • Engaging with executive leaders across State Street Bank International GmbH (SSBI) to ensure procurement strategies are aligned with business needs and that business needs are met 
  • Developing multi-year category strategy and plan including industry trends, market dynamics, data and analytics, and key save opportunities across supply, demand, and process for owned Category regionally
  • Identifying and facilitating strategies for complex category, aligning them with corporate strategy and user needs
  • Maintaining a risk management mindset; keeping abreast of evolving regulatory requirements and leading initiatives to ensure proactive approaches to meeting regulations
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to identify and implement new opportunities while also troubleshooting issues and helping to drive understanding of the procurement process
  • Directing request for proposal (RFP) processes and negotiations, managing complex agreements and effectively leading cross-functional teams
  • Triggering project-based activities and other operational improvements as needed
  • Performing all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines
  • Contributing to improve sourcing operating model and procedures and support implementation of transformation initiatives
  • Providing monthly financial reporting and analysis on key Procurement metrics for Global Procurement teams
  • Identifying risks and opportunities related to achieving financial objectives, working with process partners to mitigate risks and realize opportunities
  • Driving compliance with Global Procurement Policy

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Successfully completed Bachelor and/or Master degree or comparable education
  • Several years of Procurement experience, ideally in a complex global matrix environment
  • Strong understanding of international procurement organizations and of the local EMEA vendor market
  • Financial Services experience beneficial
  • Fluency in German and English mandatory, additional European languages beneficial (e.g. French, Italian, Polish)
  • Ability to oversee and influence others without having direct reporting lines
  • Interest in working in virtual teams across EMEA and partnering with other regional Procurement managers
