For our Corporate Tax department in our company State Street Bank International GmbH in Munich we are looking for a European Tax Accounting Manager (m/f) – Job ID R-573648.

The European Tax Accounting Manager will be an integral member of the dynamic Corporate Tax Department, supporting State Street Corporation’s international tax operations. The successful candidate will report to State Street’s Head of Continental European Tax and will play a critical role in all tax accounting and tax reporting matters of State Street’s continental European tax function. The role’s principal responsibility will be to ensure that all local taxes are appropriately recorded and reported from a local and U.S. perspective (in coordination with Global Corporate Tax). The role will also serve an important advisory function in support of tax department and business initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

  • Leading tax accounting, forecasting and reporting for State Street’s continental European entities, including review of monthly current and deferred tax calculations under local GAAP and US GAAP
  • Providing tax accounting guidance for tax planning initiatives and business transactions
  • Supporting preparation by outside advisors of State Street’s tax returns and reviewing tax returns for continental European jurisdictions
  • Leading the development & maintenance of the Tax Control Framework, especially with respect to tax accounting and compliance guidelines & procedures
  • Providing tax guidelines, support and advice to the finance team
  • Supporting the automation of processes for tax reporting and for capturing tax return information
  • Leading functional analysis and documentation in the context of VAT and transfer pricing
  • Assisting the Corporate Tax team with ad-hoc projects and advisory matters

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Successfully completed Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance or Business Administration
  • German Tax Advisor certification (Steuerberater) beneficial
  • Several years of tax and tax accounting experience with a public accounting firm or multinational company, with focus on Financial Services at best
  • Ideally both US GAAP and IFRS experience, including expertise with ASC 740 accounting for income taxes
  • Fluency in German and English
  • Strong analytical and spreadsheet (Excel) skills with high attention to detail
  • Solid  communication, interpersonal and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize
