Job Description

For the Chief Administration Office department in our company State Street Bank International GmbH in Munich we are looking for a Business Controls Officer (m/f) – Job ID R-575111.

Responsible for assisting with the  implementation of the First Line of Defense (FLOD) Policy and ensuring consistent implementation of FLOD policies and procedures across State Street Bank International GmbH (SSBI) for non-Global Services business lines and functions (i.e. Finance, Treasury and Global Markets).

Major Responsibilities

  • Support Business Controls for SSBI departments like Finance, Treasury, Investment Management Services/IMS, Global Markets (SSBI London Branch) with the implementation of FLOD policy; including where applicable leading and/or advising allocated FLOD work streams
  • Detailed understanding of the scope of FLOD policy
  • Provide FLOD Policy Subject Matter Expert (SME) support to all stakeholders
  • Run and maintain FLOD implementation meetings  
  • Ensure consistent implementation of FLOD policies and procedures across the business units as appropriate
  • Develop and retain effective working relationships and communications with SSBI businesses and Business Controls teams
  • Drive and lead assurance testing for the related businesses and functions as applicable
  • Ensure appropriate management information is produced and reviewed at appropriate intervals

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Successfully completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent education
  • Several years of related professional experience
  • Prior experience in Operational Risk Controls Work, Audit or Compliance function is essential
  • Advanced knowledge of an Operational Risk based controls testing programme, of the Minimum Requirements for Risk Management (MaRisk) and the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz/KWG)
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the custody and fund administration industry
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications
  • Fluency in Englisch, German beneficial
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Excellent communication skills  with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence across multiple stakeholders  as well as to work effectively with all levels of management
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as be an effective team player and collaborator
  • Effective time management skills and proven ability to multi-task
