For the department Chief Administration Office  in our company State Street Bank International GmbH in Munich we are looking for an Assistant Vice President Business Controls (m/f) – Job ID R-572239.

Major Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small team that provides effective Business Risk and Controls monitoring, support and reporting within State Street Bank International GmbH (SSBI) for non-Global Services business lines and functions
  • Assess control design and effectiveness for SSBI Global Markets (London Branch), Finance, Treasury, and IMS businesses
  • Collaborate closely with the SSBI Risk and Controls Self-Assessment manager in order to facilitate business input to the SSBI RCSA
  • Provide direction to the business unit on elements of policies impacting the First Line of Defense (FLOD)
  • Orchestrate and drive the successful and timely completion of Controls Assurance/Testing, including the identification and resolution of risks and issues
  • Build strong relationships with other First Line Risk, Compliance, Risk, Audit, Legal, and business colleagues
  • Lead the discussion regarding first line risk management, including but not limited to risk ratings, validating controls with the business, evaluating control design, and issue management
  • Design an effective and efficient strategy for the execution of policies impacting the First Line; includes FLOD Policy implementation activities including but not limited to: Controls and Testing, Process Improvement, Reporting, Oversight, Training, Talent Management
  • Monitor applicable changes in the inherent risk environment reported by Compliance and Risk to advise business units on the implications of regulatory changes and strategy
  • Oversee production of management reporting; interact with and report risk related issues and progress to senior management
  • Ensure self and team anticipates, monitors, actively manages and reports all risk and compliance issues, breaches and suspicious activities
  • Act in accordance with Risk Excellence and role model Ethical behavior and decision making as part of our Way Ahead foundation
  • Prepare business for and assist with 2nd and 3rd Line of Defense reviews
  • Lead and/or actively participate in committees and risk management projects as needed
  • Continuously develop deep knowledge of core product, process, financial markets and technology
  • Recruit, retain and develop talent
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities to staff and responsible for completing and delivering goals/objectives on time

Education, Experience and Skills

  • Successfully completed Bachelor and/or Master degree or similar education
  • Many years of related experience, ideally within Financial Services
  • Risk and Controls background is required
  • Working knowledge of an Operational Risk based controls testing programme
  • Working knowledge and understanding of Minimum Requirements for Risk Management (MaRisk) and the German Banking Act (Kreditwesengesetz – KWG)
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • German and English language proficiency
  • Ability to be flexible and to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Influence and management as well as excellent communication  skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence across multiple stakeholders as well as to work effectively with all levels of management
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as be an effective team player and collaborator
  • Demonstrates effective time management skills and has proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail and analytical skills
